Restaurante Retama Retama Restaurant is located in a five-star hotel in the small town of Torrenueva. It was awarded one Michelin star in 2020 and 2022. It is led by the famous chef Miguel Ángel Expósito, who cleverly combines modern innovation with traditional La Mancha food culture. Every dish and every glass of wine tells a moving story... This is not only a Michelin one-star restaurant, but it was also rated as a sun on Guía Repsol this year, which is enough to show its outstanding status in the local gastronomy. Only six tables create a warm and private dining environment. Chef (José Antonio Medina) cleverly combines local ingredients with the traditional flavors of the La Mancha region and adds the characteristics of hunting game. The dishes are Mondo River trout salad with fish roe and marinated quail, green beans basil, sea urchin rabbit meat are all good choices. "Sustainable" and "ecological" are the labels of the restaurant. Each dish is a careful combination of ingredients, innovative techniques and an unremitting passion to tell the story of this land. Each bite of the dish is the end of a journey and the beginning of a new understanding of the taste and story of the menu Historias del Guadiana. Recommended price €€€ Fonda de Alberto Restaurant Located in Valdepeñas, it has obtained the "Don Quijote Traditional Cuisine/Don Quijote Cuisine 21st Century" certification. The restaurant is based on high-quality ingredients and constantly updates seasonal products. The menu especially highlights fresh cured fish from fish markets all over Spain and classic traditional dishes of La Mancha. Winter stews and summer cold creams and salads made with the freshest fruits and vegetables are worth trying. The restaurant's wine cellar also has a collection of nearly 300 wines, including some of the main Spanish designations of origin. Recommended price €€ Las Musas Restaurant Located in Campo de Criptana, the restaurant's architectural style reflects how to design a modern, interesting and architecturally beautiful space while respecting tradition. It consists of two different floors. The upper restaurant has large windows with a panoramic view of the entire village, while the lower room is more casual and has a fireplace and a stage. The dishes are also unique, based on the very interesting cuisine of the La Mancha region, achieving a difficult balance between tradition and modernity, fully respecting the raw materials and taking them to new heights. In addition, there is the restaurant's cave "La Marcela", where you can taste tapas and even dance to the accompaniment of musicians! A good choice, we were passing through Madrid and we discovered this restaurant in Manzanares which was a great choice. The place is nice and pleasant. Very good quality of the dishes and very good service from the waitresses. Quite acceptable quality-price ratio.

The best thing about the place is that it has a nice terrace with tables on the grass and others in a corridor. As a customer of thefork I have been there twice and they have always put me in the corridor. Is it a coincidence? The food needs to improve a lot. From my experience it all seemed pre-cooked, all they do is fry the fried food and reheat the rest. The service could also be improved, at least in terms of the friendliness of some of them and the professionalism of some others.
